The Law Society Gazette has reported that a police officer has been dismissed because of his handling of his former wife’s solicitor’s failure to wear a seatbelt. It would appear that, rather than simply allowing justice to take its course, the police officer did what he could to try to ensure that the solicitor was fined, rather than attending a driver awareness course. Interestingly, the police officer concerned is called PC Lawn, which has led some to suggest that his interference with the process was fair enough because he was on his own turf but that his former wife grassed him up.  Mark Tattersall, partner at Chivers Walsh Family Law.
