Tony Chaplin & James Welch are partners in the firm, who qualified as solicitors in respectively 1983 and 1985. They are specialists in children law, particularly in cases where a local authority is involved (such as care proceedings) or when a court has directed that a child should have his or her own solicitor. They have been members of the The Law Society’s Children Law Accreditation Scheme for many years. They are regularly instructed in complex and difficult children cases. You can email Tony Chaplin here and James Welch here.
Mark Tattersall is the third partner in the firm. He qualified as a solicitor in 1986. His main area of practice is dealing with the financial issues arising from the breakdown of a marriage (or cohabitation or civil partnership), including cases where business issues arise. Although he is primarily a specialist divorce lawyer, he also regularly deals with children cases relating to child arrangments (what used to be called "contact"/“access” and "residence"/“custody”). He often deals with particularly difficult children cases, where, for example, serious allegations are made or a child is separately represented in the proceedings. He has written for “Family Law” journal and blogs on this site. He understands that it can be difficult to juggle addressing legal issues with work commitments and can arrange to meet clients outside normal office hours and he is very used to communicating promptly with clients by email, phone and Skype. You can email Mark Tattersall here.
Julie McGovern is a paralegal, with over 25 years’ experience. She deals mainly with children cases, although she regularly deals with wider family law issues, such as applications to courts for personal protection orders in domestic violence cases. You can email Julie McGovern here.
